RV Wind Drag

Since most RV's have all the aerodynamics of a barn door, why add to the drag? Air low underneath a vehicle is just as important as air flow over and around a vehicle. Air moving under an RV equipped with a solid mud flap across the rear of the vehicle is trapped and adds considerable drag. The air being trapped is super heated, and this restricted hot air increases engine compartment, transmission and most importantly rear wheel, tire and brake temperatures.
The extra weight of a large mud flap is also a minus for fuel economy. The mud flap could either be completely removed and replaced with individual rear wheel flaps, (if not already so equipped), or modified by cutting out the center section and retaining the portions which fall in line with the rear wheels. To protect the dinghy, get a bra.

If this is true, why do so many manufactures make the large one-piece mud flaps? Rose
