Electrical problem on a 1989 holiday rambler.

I recently purchased a 1989 Holiday Rambler,37 foot Cat diesel pusher(GILLIG chassis), in near perfect condition. All it needed was a wax job, 2 front tires and an alignment, all of which it received. I went to turn the generator on the other day and the switch on the dash now has no power to it. The whole panel the switch is in has no power. the panel is gen start, interior light, mood lights, elect switch for city/hwy horn, under dash light and aux start. The gen wont start from the switch on the gen either, but theres power to the gen from the batteries. I've checked every switch, fuse, plug and panel you can imagine. It's almost like something has been turned off or unplugged but I can not find it. Any thoughts?

Having power to the switch is one thing, having enough current to crank the genset over is another. The genset should be connected to the house batteries..... I would first determine the condition of these batteries. You could put a meter on them to determine the voltage drop when the generator start switch is depressed. My thought is that the house batteries should be replaced. Don't forget to verify the condition of your battery cables and main frame ground. I hope this helps ~ Giovanni
